What is the local church?
What is its purpose?

Bill Hybels, the founding and senior pastor of Willow Creek Community Church often says “The local church is the hope of the world”.

What does this mean? What does it mean for Pathway - where the focus is not on the building we occupy?

Many cathedrals and stately homes provide mirrors so that you can look at the decorative ceiling without having to strain your necks. But the mirror, even if it is clean and free from imperfections cannot show the entire ceiling - but without looking in the mirror first, you may not realise that the ceiling is worth looking at.

In the same way, as Christians, we should be mirrors reflecting Christ - we may be imperfect, limited reflectors, but as people look at us, they should see enough of Christ to want to have a look directly.
