Journeying Together

The Father: Ran to his Son.

In previous talks, we have looked at characters who ran … but this time we look at the story of the father who ran to his son - a picture of how God wants us to be reconciled with Him.

A well known story - the son who takes his inheritance early, squanders it, then realises that he would be better being a servant for his father than a starving pig herder in a strange land.

Or it is the story of the father, who gives his son the freedom to choose what to do with his life - hoping each day that the son would want to spend it with him - and seeing the son returning on the horizon runs out to meet him.

The Reconciliation sculpture is by Margaret Adams Parker in the grounds of the Duke Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina. Images of the sculpture.
