Living at the Crossroads

A generous church

In fact, this may be easy for us - because we have always been generous with our time, money, skills and resources. It is helpful though to take a look at the ways that we have been shown to be generous. Some of these things are events that Pathway as a fellowship is involved in, in other cases members of Pathway are involved - and this will not be an exhaustive list

Supporting community events

We provide a café for events in the community such as Chilwell Eat Well - (ChEW). We provide the co-ordination and technical support for the Broxtowe council-run Community Day.
We have been involved in carol singing in various locations (including outside the local shops, in local sheltered housing, and in the local pub on Christmas eve).
We have been involved in local schools as governors and doing school assemblies.
We have been gardening, renovating houses and concreting driveways for people who needed the help.

Supporting other churches

We have helped our sister church  St Barnabas in harvest and non-halloween light parties.
We collect for Christian Aid.
We support Nottingham Youth for Christ.
We have been involved in Hope08 and we have sent teams to Soul Survivor.

Supporting other users of our building

We don’t actually own a building but we worship in someone else’s building.  We don’t want to be simply “hirers” of the building - we see it as a partnership. So we have made improvements to the building and installed audio and video equipment.  We provided new tables and chairs.  We bought new crockery for the luncheon club.
And we have been litter picking!

We care about the wider world

We support Fair Trade and Traidcraft.
Some of our young people are involved in mission work overseas.

Looking after the family

Hospitality is important whether it has been visiting and helping Ellen get to church or providing baby sitters so that people can get to events, or simply people opening their homes up for small groups. We are a family church and we provide meals when people need them - when they have moved house or had babies or need a “Pathway TV Dinner”.

Our events

Some of the events that we have initiated:

  • Community BBQ
  • Holiday Club
  • First Steps
  • Saturday Explorer Club
  • Easter Egg Hunts
  • Assemblies in local schools
  • PYG/PYG+
  • PURE
  • Weekends at the Oakes

We like to share our skills and resources

  • technical support for events
  • lending equipment and skills
  • video and multimedia production

So - are we a generous church?  I think so - but we are only beginning to find out what it really means to be generous.
