Rich Young Ruler?

Lent is traditionally a time for giving things up, but in Mark 10:17-31, someone is asked to give everything up.

Should you give things up during Lent? Or is this a time to take things up instead? If you give something up, what should it be?

In this talk, Gary looks at the the passage when Jesus tells his discples “it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man enter heaven”. But what was the real issue? Was it wealth, or was it that there was something in the man’s life that was keeping God as number 2 rather than number 1?

What things in our lives stop God from having the number one slot? And is Lent a good time to start working with God on those things?

Lots of questions – and maybe some answers.
