Paul, was writing to a church that had both Jew and Gentile people in it - those "under the Law (of Moses)" and those not under the law, and Paul spoke to each group separately ... but his underlying message is that the outward signs of the law are not the issue - as Christians, it is our relationship with the law that is written within us. Or it is the story of the father, who gives his son the freedom to choose what to do with his life - hoping each day that the son would want to spend it with him - and seeing the son returning on the horizon runs out to meet him. On the face of it - he is hardly an "ordinary" person - saved from death as a baby by an amazing plan that ended up with him being brought up in Pharaoh's household; at 40 kills an Egyptian who is mistreating a Hebrew slave and runs away - at 80 encounters God and is sent back to Pharoah. Then the adventure really begins! But what can we learn? He was passionate - and he made a difference. He had a gift which he used. He encountered God .
