Build One Another Up
November 16th, 2008How do we build one another up? What are our stories?
We have a number of themes - these vary by season, but there are some common threads…
We are Ordinary People with an Extraordinary God and we are Journeying Together.
“If I’m not excited or engaged or involved with something then I can get easily distracted. I don’t think I’m alone in my ‘distractability’.”
In the Old Testament, there are many examples that once the need to fight for survival had disappeared, the temptation to be drawn away from God and his ways would have grown - people became distracted. Joshua didn’t want this to happen.
Would we have the courage to stand between an aggressor and their victim? To be prepared to die for them?
No matter what your history, no matter your background we are equal in God’s sight: equally guilty - but equally forgiven under God’s grace.
Continuing our journey together through Paul’s letter to the church in Rome, we look at what we have to learn about the law and about unity.
We can have a relationship with Jesus and it this makes our faith alive. But sometimes we are nearer to Jesus than other times - it does vary, not static.
Paul had a great deal to say about what is true and what is false, and how to tell them apart.
